Bhagat singh committed suicide': Pawan Kalyan
Hyderabad: Known for his emotionally charged speeches, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan said that Bhagat Singh committed suicide at the age of 23 while fighting for India’s freedom.
He was speaking at Dallas Pravasa Garjana Public Meeting and said, “If we read about Bhagat Singh’s history, we get to know that he committed suicide at the age of 23. He was willing to die. They hanged him. To awaken the consciousness of India, people like him sacrificed their lives, their youth, their everything. I wanted to read biographies. Once we read about the freedom struggle, we will understand the mistakes of our contemporary political class.”
While Bhagat Singh was hanged by the British, freedom fighter Chandrashekar Azad committed suicide. Evidently, Pawan Kalyan seemed to have mixed up the two leaders. Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were sentenced to death in the Lahore conspiracy case and ordered to be hanged on March 24, 1931 but were hanged on March 23, 1931 at 7.30 pm in Lahore jail.
While the video is creating buzz on social media, he is being trolled by netizens for his poor knowledge about the martyrs. They pointed that he was making wrong statements about Indian history in a different country.
