Rajahmundry: Mobile PoS to ease cash crunch in West Godavari
Rajahmundry: In a bid to promote cashless transactions in a big way and help people cope in these days of cash crunch, the West Godavari administration has come up with an initiative to launch Mobile Point of Sale machines. These machines, especially at pharmacies, will help people to purchase medicines by swiping their debit card.
The mobile Point of Sale machine is a smart mobile phone with Android operating system having internet access. A device is attached to the smart phone to facilitate swiping of debit card to carry out cashless transaction. During normal times, the smart phone can be detached from the device and used as a regular mobile phone.
The move is aimed to ensure that with no major financial burden on pharmacists to purchase Point of Sale machines by spending thousands of rupees, they can use their own smart mobile phone with lesser investment to facilitate cashless financial transactions during sale of medicines at their pharmacies. The district administration has entrusted the task of promoting MPoS to the drugs control administration authorities as the pharmacies work under their control.
Accordingly, the DCA authorities are carrying out an awareness drive among the pharmacists to use MPoS machines to facilitate sale of medicines online. The DCA authorities say that they are getting good response from the pharmacists as they want to use MPoS as it costs relatively less and help both the Centre and state government in their efforts to promote cashless transactions.
However, the DCA authorities say that they are planning to implement the MPoS in a phased manner to avoid teething problems and ensure that the proposed system of cashless transactions go on well without any hitches.
