O Panneerselvam likely to meet Narendra Modi on Monday
Chennai: Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Moday and urge for the immediate sanction of Rs 1,000 crore to Tamil Nadu to facilitate the State to take up relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction measures post the tropical cyclone Vardah. According to sources, the Chief Minister has sought an audience with Mr. Modi and he would leave for the national capital on Sunday for the meeting. This would be Mr. Panneerselvam's maiden visit to New Delhi after he became Chief Minister for the third time.
He had recently written a letter to the BJP-led government at the Centre asking for financial aid to enable the taking up of relief measures. The PMO has already received the letter. The Centre would release the funds after receiving a report from the TN government on the damage suffered and also after the Central team's assessment of the damage.
