Liquor kickback for Karnataka CM, HY Meti? Complaint filed

In his complaint, Bhavani Ram Prasad stated that several liquor shops were violating the guidelines while many were being run illegally.

Bengaluru: Accusing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and former Excise Minister H.Y. Meti of receiving kickbacks and not acting against those running liquor shops illegally, the president of Janahitha Samiti has filed a complaint to Upalokayukta Subhash B. Adi, seeking action against the duo.

In his complaint, Bhavani Ram Prasad stated that several liquor shops were violating the guidelines while many were being run illegally. “Many departmental stores are also selling liquor illegally. This is indirectly causing loss to the state exchequer. The officials of the excise department are not acting against such establishments as they collect bribe from them on monthly basis. Despite filing a complaint with the CM and the former Excise Minister with evidence, they have not acted,” the complaint stated.

“It is evident that the CM and the former excise minister have abused their official power and thus an investigation has be ordered into the issue,” the complainant added.
