Hyderabad: Civic body to hand out maintenance to private parties
Hyderabad: The GHMC has invited private parties to build and maintain central medians and traffic islands under their corporate social responsibility norms.
The GHMC has invited private parties mostly corporate agencies, for the construction and maintenance of 58 new and existing central medians, 28 traffic islands, seven areas under flyovers.
The deal will be for a year, and could be used for publicity purposes.
The infrastructures will continue to be owned by the GHMC, the corporation said.
“The GHMC is looking for corporate companies, agencies and sponsors with good financial background,” said an official statement from the corporation.
Earlier this year, municipal minister K.T. Rama Rao had announced the privatisation of city roads.
The roads will be constructed and maintained by the private party for a lease term of two years. The roads will be owned by GHMC. However the proposal is not under active consideration.
