Telangana Assembly elections: Committee formed to pacify Congress rebels

TPCC treasurer Guduru Narayana Reddy said the committee reached the city on Saturday night.

Hyderabad: With the formation of the Telangana Rebels Front by Congress aspirants who failed to get tickets, the high command has appointed a three-member committee to pacify them and ensure they do not contest. Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanswamy, minister Malladi Krishna Rao and Karnataka minister D.K. Shiva Kumar are in the committee.

TPCC treasurer Guduru Narayana Reddy said the committee reached the city on Saturday night. The committee would stay for two days and rebel candidates could meet and discuss issues with them. TPCC leaders are also trying to pacify the rebels. Senior leader K. Jana Reddy held discussions with Mr Karthik Reddy, rebel candidate from Rajendranagar Assembly constituency.

Speaking to the media, Mr Reddy said that the TRS was on the verge of a defeat and that’s why caretaker minister K.T. Rama Rao was repeatedly speaking about quitting politics if the TRS did not come to power. He alleged that caretaker minister Patnam Mahendar Reddy was behaving like a “mafia” in the Tandur assembly constituency.
