Cabinet expansion by November end: Dinesh Gundurao

It is learnt that Mr Patil insisted on the early Cabinet expansion to keep the aspirants happy.

Bengaluru: To keep the ministerial aspirants happy, Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwar and KPCC President Dinesh Gundurao have once again promised that the much-delayed Cabinet expansion would take place by November end.

Meanwhile, former water resources minister M.B. Patil met AICC general secretary in-charge of Karnataka affairs K.C. Venugopal and reportedly discussed about the Cabinet expansion.

It is learnt that Mr Patil insisted on the early Cabinet expansion to keep the aspirants happy. Mr Patil termed his meeting with Mr Venugopal a courtesy call, but refused to divulge details.

Meanwhile, KPCC president Dinesh Gundurao has said that the Cabinet expansion would take place by November end despite reports that it would happen only after Makara Sankranthi in January next. This means, the ministerial aspirants have to wait for two more months. Sources said that the Cabinet expansion would be delayed because of the Belagavi session and "dhanur masa”, an inauspicious month for any good work. The Cabinet expansion would take place after Makara Sankranthi.

However, the legislators were not ready to wait till then. Giving in to the pressures from legislators, some senior Congress leaders were making (false) promises to keep them in good humour, the sources said.
