Telangana: Parties agree, Assembly adjourned
Hyderabad: The state Assembly was adjourned sine die on Friday. The Winter Session which began on October 27, the House functioned for 16 days and passed 11 Amendment bills.
The Bills passed included those amending the current legislations covering preventive detention, pattadar passbooks, value added tax, gaming and Excise.
Also passed were amendment Acts on shops and establishments, Road Development Corporation, Lokayukta, official language and endowments.
Though the government offered to run the session for 50 days, the government and Opposition parties reached a consensus on concluding the session on Friday as all the major Bills and discussion were taken up in 16 days itself.
The CM offered to convene a special session in December to bring new Panchayat Raj Act and also to discuss on utilisation of SC/ST development funds for full two days.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao requested the Speaker not to prologue the Assembly to enable holding special session.
Minister for legislative affairs T. Harish Rao met the floor leaders of all parties on Friday and discussed about concluding the session, and secured agreement.
Earlier, it was decided that the Business Advisory Committe meeting should be held on Friday to take a decision on how many days the session should be continued. With all parties agreeing on concluding the session, no BAC meeting was held.
