Kodanad estate manager reveals cash-for-votes
Coimbatore: Income tax inquiries with Kodanad estate manager revealed that huge amount has been distributed to voters from Kodanad estate during last TN assembly polls. According to I-T sources, the I-T officials launched raids on 182 locations in 5 days including the house of Sasikala, Dhinakaran, their relatives and friends and recovered many important documents.
The I-T officials also raided the Kodanad estate and took four bags and one suitcase full of documents from the estate. Meanwhile the officials summoned 20 including Kodanad estate manager Natarajan and Green Tea estate manager Palanikumar for an inquiry. After questioning with Natarajan, I-T officials have collected vital information about Green tea estate revenue transaction, foreign trading and money distribution to voters from Kodanad estate during last assembly election.
Natarajan also admitted that the money transaction was done in his name for exporting Green Tea to many foreign countries. During further investigation Natarajan claimed that Sasikala and Dhinakaran are aware about the money deposited in staff’s accounts during demonetisation and other bank details and foreign exchange.
The officials have asked Natarajan to remain in the district still the inquiry gets over. Natarajan was grilled from morning 11 to 6 pm on Thursday. Coimbatore based sand trader Arumugasamy appeared at the Race course I-T office around 3 pm on Thursday following summons. He too was questioned for more than three hours. Timber merchant Sajeevan will also be summoned soon added the source.
