Army holds the highest respect for woman and rank: Ramesh Kumar

The officers are also informed to treat Sahayak as a family member and not a sub ordinate, the officer added.

Hyderabad: The Armed forces follows a defined standard while treating their low rank staff. Officers holding high ranks are provided with the provision of Sahayak or buddy system (where a solider is attached to officer with defined domestic duties ).

Colonel P. Ramesh Kumar, director of TS Sainik Welfare Board, said, “With regard to the forces , firstly 99 per cent of low rank staff are males, secondly the forces hold the highest respect for woman and rank. A rule stands where even if the chief of the army is spotted , wives of the junior officers need not stand or salute.”

“There is no scope for the juniors to work as orderlies because the Army, Navy and Airforce has defined punishment and court marshal that acts as a deterrent. Also , officers are thought how to treat their women counterparts,” he added. The officers are also informed to treat Sahayak as a family member and not a sub ordinate, the officer added.
