Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has alleged that Opposition parties are spreading lies on special category status. Participating in Jana Chaitanya Yatra at Chodavaram in the district, he said the state will benefit more from special financial package and that’s the reason he had agreed for it.
“I always think about the welfare of people and with that in mind I agreed for the special financial package anno-unced by the Centre. Opposition parties are spreading lies about special category status. State will benefit more due to the package,” he said.
Mr Naidu added that earlier Congress government had looted the state during its 10 year rule. He said that though he can stay at Hyderabad for the next 10 years he wanted to develop the state and be close to people. So he shifted the administration to new capital, Amaravati.
The Chief Minister also said that NDA government is yet to fulfil some of the provisions of AP Reorganisation Act. He blamed that the YSRC has looted the state and the Union government now had to ban the big notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 because of such corrupt people.
The Chief Minister hit back at the leaders of Opposition parties over the proposed Beach Love Festival (BLF) in Vizag city in February-2017. Mr Naidu claimed that the TD government won’t conduct any event that will hurt the sentiments of people or disturb traditions and local culture.
Regarding allotment of land to the Film Nagar Cultural Centre near the Buddhist site in Thotalkonda in Vizag city, the Chief Minister said he came to understand there were objections raised by people and assured that he would review the allotment afresh and take a final decision.
Speaking on the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes, Mr Naidu said the shortage of Rs 100 and Rs 50 currency notes have been causing trouble to people and he held a review meeting with officials and bankers to overcome the problems.
However, Mr Naidu criticised the introduction of Rs 2,000 currency notes citing that it would push corruption and revive black money.
Mr Naidu appealed to people to activate their Jan Dhan accounts and Rupee Card for e-payment system to overcome the crisis.
