Micro-ATMs to solve problem in Vijayawada

Almost Rs 17 lakh cashless transactions were done in public distribution system in the district, the bankers informed the collector.

Vijayawada: Banking correspondents will be arranged in all villages and municipalities and in all Rhythu bazars in Krishna district to make public enable to carry digital transactions. The district Collector Babu A. has directed all the Mee Seva centres, self-help groups (SHGs) and fair price shops to start cashless payment operations. Micro ATMs and mobile ATMs will be arranged soon to overcome the problems arising out of demonetisation of currency.

In an interaction with the merchants associations and banks representatives here on Thursday, the district collector has briefed them about digital transformation.
Around Rs 1,600 crore was deposited in banks till now in Krishna district and Rs 400 crore currency was exchanged, according to the bankers. Almost Rs 17 lakh cashless transactions were done in public distribution system in the district, the bankers informed the collector.

The collector said that 25,000 point-of-sale machines will be placed in all shops to do business only with debit and credit cards.
