Hyderabad High Court quashes relief given to Michael Ferreira
Hyderabad: The HC has set aside the relief granted by a single judge to former billiards champion Michael Ferreira and four of his associates. A bench comprising Acting CJ Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice A. Shankar Narayana allowed two appeals by the TS government and SHO, Kukatpally police station, challenged the orders of the single judge.
H. Venugopal, counsel for home department, brought to the notice of the court that a single judge on November 4, 2016, granted orders staying all criminal proceedings against Malcolm N. Desai, Michael Joseph Ferreira, Srinivasa Rao Vanka, Magaral V. Balaji, Nozer K. Desai.
He said that the judge also directed the trial court in Hyderabad to grant bail to them besides staying the transit remand granted by a Mumbai court. The bench directed the Magistrate to examine the bail applications on merit.
