Kurnool promotes Khana Khajana under Birla Gate flyover

Kurnool Municipal Corporation (KMC) has decided to monetise public spaces within the city, particularly under flyover bridges, which would also prevent misuse of such spaces by anti-social elements.

One such place is “Khana Khajana” – Kurnool’s Eat Street – covering the entire space under the Birla Gate flyover. The place has been creatively transformed into an attractive destination for people.

The Khana Khajana area currently features 14 food stalls, offering a variety of around 100 food items at affordable prices.

In addition, the place has six designated selfie spots, well-designed children's play areas, fitness equipment for adults, water fountains, beautified walls and captivating wall paintings.

The area, which once had been a haven for troublemakers and anti-social elements, has turned into a vibrant family location. To make it even more enjoyable for citizens, KMC officials are planning to organise special events at this site once a month.

Currently, there is no entry fee to visit this spot.

A senior Kurnool Municipal Corporation official said their plan is to protect public places from misuse, while turning them into places that people can visit, particularly for outings.

The official explained that KMC had previously renovated parks, turning them into appealing lung spaces for local people. He indicated that in the coming days, there are plans to convert more vacant spaces for public use and entertainment.
