BJP\'s DK Aruna detained in Wanaparthy
Hyderabad: BJP vice-president D.K. Aruna was detained by the Pebbair police of Wanaparthy district on Saturday while she was on her way to visit the pump house of the Kalwakurthy lift irrigation scheme which was submerged in backwaters of Srisailam reservoir.
The police intercepted her vehicle at Pebbair and took her into custody. Angered by this, she argued with the police who refused to relent. Mild tension prevailed when BJP cadres prevented the police from arresting Aruna. The police forcibly dispersed them and took Aruna to the police station.
Aruna alleged that the Chandrashekar Rao-led TRS government was throttling the voice of the Opposition and preventing them to visit the site in an undemocratic manner to cover up its mistakes and faults which had led to the submergence. The police let Aruna go in the evening.
