Get varsity funds released: Tamilisai Soundararajan

One of the clauses requires the state government to give its share of the grant first and only then will the Centre give its share.

Hyderabad: Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has taken note of the non-release of grants from the state government for Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA). These grants are meant for research in the seven universities of Telangana.

One of the clauses requires the state government to give its share of the grant
first and only then will the Centre give its share.

With the state government not releasing the grant, the funds with the Centre will lapse.

If the funds are not released even in October, the funds for this academic year will lapse in 2020.

The RUSA project requires recruiting of special faculty.

Senior university professors say that not a single rupee has come under the project from the state. With no academic as vice-chancellor in any of the universities in the state, the in-charge VCs are not taking up the matter with the government.

The Governor has asked all in-charge VCs to take necessary steps and procure the funds from the state government.

She has asked them to take immediate steps and get the maximum benefit from the funds.
