Hyderabad: People woke up to error 500 and error 503 from YouTube on Wednesday as the video platform crashed. This is the first major outage that occurred around 6.50 am IST which lasted for about an hour across the world. Not only Youtube, but also YouTube TV and YouTube Music faced similar outages during this period.
YouTube users who logged on were shown error messages like ‘Error 500’ and ‘Error 503’ as they tried to login to watch content on the platform. Users who tried to access the website during outage were shown a blank page with no videos. However, on the app the error message read, ‘There was a problem with the network [503].’
YouTube team was communicating to users through social media acknowledging the outage and vouching to fix the problem. While YouTube did not reveal the details of the reasons for the outage, it apologized for the inconvenience. It may be mentioned here that earlier, during a paid live-streaming of the England vs Croatia World Cup semifinal, YouTube TV suffered an outage but it was restored quickly, making Wednesday’s outage the longest one ever.
