Three killed, four injured in road mishap in Ramnad

Police and other rescue personnel had a tough time in separating the two vehicles.

Rameswaram: At least three persons were killed on the spot and four others seriously injured when a car collided head-on with a state-owned Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus at Keezhaselvanur near Sayalkudi in Ramanathapuram district on Wednesday.

Police said the car carrying seven passengers was heading towards the pilgrim island of Rameswaram from Sivakasi when it collided with a Thoothukudi-bound TNSTC bus proceeding from Ramanathapuram, killing three of the car passengers on the spot.

The other four other occupants of the car were critically injured under the impact of the collision and were rushed to the Ramanathapuram district headquarters hospital for treatment.

The ghastly road mishap has sent shock waves across the district. The car was completely crushed under the impact of the collision and it looks very little of the private vehicle can be salvaged.Police and other rescue personnel had a tough time in separating the two vehicles.
