Muslims lament lack of mention in TRS vows

Mr Rao and the TRS will have to pay the price if it did not change its attitude, Mr Ilyas said.

Hyderabad: Muslims were upset after the partial manifesto announced by TRS president and caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao did not mention issues concerning the community.

Ghouse Khamooshi Trust secretary Mohd Farooq said the TRS had betrayed Muslims who had blindly trusted Mr Rao. The CM spoke elaborately on schemes and policies for almost all sections of society except the minorities while speaking on the manifesto, Mr Farooq said. “He didn’t bother to say a word on the 12 per cent reservation for Muslims,” he said.

Mr Rao does not tire praising the Nizam but his actions lead to the destruction of the remains of the Asif Jahi era, he said. “Mr Rao ignores Charminar and wants to demolish the OGH,” Mr Farooq said. “If he ignores the Muslims, he will be ignored by us. He should apologize for disregarding the Muslim community,” Mr Farooq said.

Chairman, Team NGOs India, Ilyas Shamsi said, “We dispaired that Mr Rao did not say a single word about minorities. It showed that KCR thinks he does not need the minorities; votes.”

Mr Ilyas said that in the first term of the TRS government, less than two-third of the Budgetary allocations were spent on schemes and programmes meant for minorities.

Mr Rao and the TRS will have to pay the price if it did not change its attitude, Mr Ilyas said.

Human Life Awakening Society founder Syed Abdul Quadar Quadri said Mr Rao may not have wanted to disclose his policies and programmes for the minorities just yet as part of the political strategy.

“We have to wait until the final manifesto is released. We hope the TRS will consider the charter of demands presented to Mr Rao by various Muslim organisations.”
