Jana Sena faults TD on Polavaram funds

Referring to the Polavaram irrigation project, he pointed out that earlier the Transstroy was entrusted the job of execution of Polavaram project.

Rajahmundry: Jana Sena questioned the Telugu Desam government about its failure to recover the mobilisation funds sanctioned to Transstroy India Limited since the firm was not assigned to execute the Polavaram irrigation project.

The move follows a series of critical remarks made against Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan by ministers and legislators from Telugu Desam government in the aftermath of the historic march undertaken by the Jana Sena on Sir Arthur Cotton barrage recently.

The party's official spokesperson Addepalli Sridhar told newsmen here on Wednesday that their party chief was concerned about the development of the state and welfare of its people. This was why he had questioned the TD government for its political accountability.

Referring to the Polavaram irrigation project, he pointed out that earlier the Transstroy was entrusted the job of execution of Polavaram project. The firm was withdrawn from the project works citing the fact that it was unable to execute the work in a time-bound manner. It was also alleged that Transstroy had engaged a sub-contractor to take up work that was owned by a kin of the minister for finance Yanamala Ramakrishunudu. The state government was paying money directly to the sub-contractors flouting norms.

The Jana Sena spokesperson asked why the state government had failed to act firmly to get back the mobilisation funds given to Transstroy for so long when it was withdrawn from the project works.

He said that their party chief was concerned about the failure of both the previous Congress regime and the present Telugu Desam government for failing to give proper relief to the project affected tribals and others for a long time.

He said that the march on Sir Arthur Cotton barrage taken up by the party chief was a grand success as a large number of party supporters turned up to attend it and expressed their solidarity with the leader.
