Leopard lands in farmer's trap in Mallarlapalle forest area

A farmer from the village had spread the nets to protect his fields from wild boars.

TIRUPATI: A leopard got stuck in a net laid out by a farmer at Mallarlapalle forest area under Irala mandal of Chittoor district on Tuesday. The farmer from the village had spread the nets to protect his fields from wild boars. Villagers passing through the fields noticed the leopard caught in the net and informed the forest officials.

Zoo officials from Tirupati rushed to the spot and fired an anaesthetic shot at the leopard. They took the unconscious animal into a cage. Big crowd gathered to see the leopard. Speaking to DC, Dr Arun, Tirupati SV Zoo said, “It’s a male leopard aged around 5-6 years. Due to the wiring it received some minor injuries in the waist region. We have to check for internal injuries if any. It has been difficult there to treat the leopard as the crowd was enthusiastic to see it.”
