K Chandrasekhar Rao to take up split issues, women's quota
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao wants fresh resolutions to be moved in the Assembly to seek Central Government clearances on several pending issues such as the bifurcation of the High Court and quotas for women in Parliament and for minorities, though the Assembly has already passed unanimous resolutions on these issues earlier.
He also directed the Secretary of the Legislature to initiate proceedings to convene the State Assembly and Legislative Council session on October 27 and wants the session to continue for at least a month, which will be enough time to discuss various issues.
However, the Business Advisory Committee will have its meeting on October 26 and decide upon the duration of the Sessions.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a strategy committee meeting with ministers and officials on Tuesday at his camp office.
State ready to answer all queries: KCR
“In the past, the Telangana State Assembly has passed several resolutions and sent them to the Centre, but the Centre has not responded. Hence, we need to once again make resolutions on the bifurcation of the High Court, reservation for women in Parliament, increasing reservations for Minorities and Scheduled Tribes, income tax exemption for the Singareni mine employees, interlinking the employment generation scheme with agriculture activities, and establishment of AIIMS in Telangana state. Let us pass these resolutions once again and send them to the Centre to exert pressure,” the Chief Minister said.
He said every issue should be debated in the Assembly and the government is ready to answer all queries raised by members. The government has implemented many innovative programmes and schemes for the people, “which no other government has done in the country”, he said.
He said there should be a discussion on the measures taken by the government for the protection and preservation of the mother tongue, Telugu.
