Home food, parole: Jail inmates protest
Bengaluru: Over 100 inmates of the Parappana Agrahara central prison staged a protest, urging the authorities to relax rules to permit an inmate to go
on parole and to get home food.
It is learnt that the prison officials implemented measures to curb illegal activities and irregularities after DIG Roopa submitted a report accusing several irregularities in the prison.
On Tuesday morning, over 100 convicts refused to have breakfast and do assigned work and protested, demanding that the rules related to parole and getting home food should be relaxed. Further, they demanded that the visitors’ interview process should be eased.
ADGP (Prisons) N.S. Megharikh and other senior officials rushed to the prison and assured the inmates that they will look into their demands. Following this, the inmates withdrew the protest.
