GUNTUR: A student of a private school fearing punishment committed suicide on the railway track at Vinukonda on Monday night. According to the police, Sk Muzawar Aqeeb Javed, 16, a Class X student at the Narayana Talent School at Vinukonda, had reportedly fought with a classmate and beat him up.
The victim student lodged a complaint with the teacher, who took the issue to the headmaster. The school then called Javed’s father Md Sharif. Javed left after the school closed on Monday but did not reach home. His parents searched for him all night long. On Tuesday locals found the body of a young boy lying on the track near the Enugupalem railway gate.
Parents and relatives rushed to the spot and identified the body as that of Javed. The enraged parents rushed to the school to protest against the authorities for creating fear amongst the students that compelled them to resort to suicide. The management fled after locking the premises.
