BBMP had issued notice to building owners on September 25

The notice had stated that the residents have to be vacated as the building was in a dilapidated condition.

Bengaluru: The BBMP had issued a notice on September 25 to the owner of the house that collapsed after an LPG cylinder blast at Ejipura on Monday morning. The notice had stated that the residents have to be vacated as the building was in a dilapidated condition. However, the building owner had ignored the BBMP warning.

The notice read that the building built in Ejipuar on 13th Cross is around 30 years old and of substandard quality. “The building is in a dilapidated condition and it should be vacated. There is a possibility of neighbouring buildings suffering damage during the demolition of the building. The owner of the building, both Somesh and his son Gunesh, were asked to make alternative arrangements for the neighbours before taking up demolition,” the notice read.

The BBMP notice ordered them to demolish the building soon after getting the notice, and warned that the building owners would be held responsible for any damage.

The notice was issued by the assistant executive engineer of Koramangala subdivision.
