Telangana: Offices in new districts need time to get going
Hyderabad: It would require at least one month to bring the administration on track after the recent reorganisation of the districts in TS. The state government has issued a 13-page booklet of instructions to the heads of the new districts on getting the administration going.
The instructions include opening of new PD current accounts at the new locations, district-wise transferring of current files with note, and others.
A senior official said as part of the process of setting up the new administration, some junior officers were named the heads. For example, revenue inspectors were named Revenue Divisional Officers and RDOs as joint collectors.
The official said that it will take some time for these newly-promoted officials to settle down and start working independently. Besides, furniture and other infrastructure has to be shifted to the new location and installation of computer systems, internet facility and others must take place.
The government said that the Chief Planning Officer will act as a nodal officer at the district-level for collection, compilation and dissemination of data. The state government asked the district officials to conduct a socioeconomic, employment and unemployment surveys, census of land holdings etc. The officials have also been asked to open service registers and record data of employees.
Apart from this, officials have been asked to prioritise work, taking into account the urgency. The state government asked the CPOs of original district to send the service registers and personal files of the staff concerned to the district concerned.
Officials say that getting the administration going smoothly wouldn’t be an easy task. A senior official said that the old files will be with the original district and current and new files will be sent to the new districts. He anticipated revenue records to pose the most problems.
