GUNTUR: AP Assembly Speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasada Rao on Monday launched online vehicle registration in Guntur district on Monday. Transport department, as part of the e-Pragati project, introduced the online registration facility. As part of the new system, vehicle buyers can avail the registration facility at the vehicle showroom itself.
Along with Dr Kodela, minister for agriculture Prattipati Pulla Rao, Guntur west MLA Modugula Venu-gopal Reddy and Gunt-ur collector Kantilal Dande participated in the programme conducted at a showroom in the city.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sivaprasada Rao described it as a revolutionary change in transport department. He said with the new system vehicle owners will benefit largely as they do not have to wait in queues at the registration office. He also suggested the transport department to act tough on the violators to curb the accidents.
Minister Pulla Rao said the new system will bring transparency in the department and also increase the efficiency. He said the new initiative will put a check on the middleman.
