Mysuru: A large number of devotees witnessed the annual Cauvery theerthodbava (origin of Cauvery) at Talacauvery in Kodagu on Monday.
Cauvery Theerthodbava, the origin of Cauvery from Brahmakundike, in Talacauvery occurred at 6.29 am in the auspicious Mithuna lagna. Cauvery Tula Sankramana will be observed at Talacauvery for the next one month. It is believed that drinking the holy theertha (Cauvery water) and taking a holy dip in it, is auspicious. Hence devotees from not just Karnataka but even Kerala and Tamil Nadu arrive here but this year, there were no devotees from Tamil Nadu due to the Cauvery dispute.

Actress-politician Ramya, who participated in the fest, said she prayed for good rains and for peace. The Cauvery issue should be resolved through mutual talks by Chief Ministers of both states, she said. Madikeri MLA Appachu Ranjan and MP Pratap Simha were present.
