Bengaluru: Charging that the state government was trying to dilute the recommendations of the Hota Committee on recruitment of officers through Karnataka Public Service Commission, the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has warned that the move would derail the present KPSC recruitment process.
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, BJP spokesperson Mr Suresh Kumar and Hebbal MLA Mr Ashwathnarayan said that the High Court has clearly directed KPSC to conduct the recruitment as per recommendations made by Hota Committee. At the moment, the government has taken up recruitment of 415 gazetted probationers, for which recruitment started in 2015.
The main examination results were published in April 2016 and the document verification was done in May 2016.
After that, the government developed second thoughts over calling candidates for the interview based on the 1:3 ratio and is planning to call candidates in the 1:5 ratio, the BJP leaders said. This would not only go against the Hota Committee report, but also raise doubts about foul play, they said.
Besides, the shortlisted candidates, whose documents have already been verified would go to court. Whatever amendment the government wants to make should be applicable to the next recruitment and not to this recruitment, they said.
Besides, the government is trying to circumvent one more recommendation made by the committee. The committee had recommended that six experts from outside, preferably from other states should be on the interview panel. However, the government is planning to nominate its own people to the interview panel, so that they could have a say in the interview process, Mr Ashwathnarayan added.
