HYDERABAD: Days after the Ashok Kumar Roopanwala co-mmission said Rohith Vemula was not a Dalit, a video of the UoH scholar saying he is a Dalit went viral on social media on Monday.
This video appeared to have been shot in a tent which Rohith and other suspended students had named Veliwada at the UoH shopping complex.
He is seen describing himself as a Dalit from Guntur district of AP.
He said it was his mother who had raised him. Vemula talked about the suspension imposed on him and other Dalit students, his studies and students activism.
The video was relea-sed by the students’ JAC which alleged that caste discrimination by the UoH had led to Rohith’s suicide. They said they had stumbled upon the video in a laptop that had been seized earlier for investigation purposes.
