Tirupati: Naravaripalli, the native village of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, is developing into a model village with the initiatives of his daughter-in-law Nara Brahmani who has adopted it.
Several development works have been taken up by the gram panchayat as well as by Ms Brahmani from her own funds after she adopted Kandulavaripalli gram panchayat, under which Naravaripalli falls, last October.
Kandulavaripalli sarp-anch P. Chandrakumar Naidu said the four hamlets with 1,200 population — Kandulavaripalli, Harijanawada, Narava-ripalli and Naravaripalli Colony — that constituted the gram panchayat were undergoing a complete transformation.
All the villages had become open-defaecation free, with the construction of individual toilets for every household. Drinking water taps were provided for every house and LED lights were distributed.
The government primary school in Naravaripalli was reconstructed with financial aid from Ms Brahmani. For the welfare of the women, a Mahila Bhavan was constructed and a training centre for women is coming up in the village. AK Textiles would start a tailoring unit at Ramireddypalli, which will also provide employment to women.
Mr Naidu donated five acres to establish the women’s training centre in the village, which will be inaugurated very shortly, Mr Chandra-kumar Naidu said.
A compost yard is under construction near the village where the garbage collected from the houses will be used to manufacturing manure, he said.
“We have submitted proposals for underground drainage system in our panchayat, which is under consideration. Following the initiative of Ms Brahmani about 15 students are getting free education from the NTR Trust.
Several internal roads were developed as CC roads and some temples have been restored. After adopting panchayat, Ms Brahmani visited our villages twice and inspected the works,” he said.
According to Kamati Muniratna Yadav, a childhood friend and political rival of Mr Chandrababu Naidu in Naravaripalli, the village had seen development after the TD formed government two-and-a-half years ago. “I am the lone Congress worker in the village. Despite we being in different parties my friendship with Mr Naidu continues.”
When he came to the village during Sankranti this year for the first time, he said that he wished to settle in the village after his political retirement. His dream is that a big industry should come up here that can provide employment to the youth, for which he is also prepared to donate his own land,” said Mr Yadav.
