Chennai: SRM Institute of Science and Technology at nearby Kattankulathur has set a national record as its graduating class of 2,020 students have bagged as many as 4,749 job offers, according to Director Sriram Padmanabhan at the SRMIST Career Centre. He said this score beats the institute’s record of 3,020 job offers bagged last year.
At the conclusion of ‘Day One’ processes, TCS (Ninja) has made 1,437 offers, Infosys 1,315, CTS (Cognizant Technology Solutions) 1,175 and Wipro 822. Apart from this, TCS has made 183 offers under ‘Digital Track’ (Rs 7 lakhs per annum), said the Director, adding that this is the highest number of offers made by these four biggies in any single campus in the country.
The highest on-campus offer secured this year was `41.6 lakhs per annum from Microsoft.
Under the ‘Day One’ arrangement which brings together these four IT majors to the SRM Campus, all the results are declared the same day, adding to the carnival atmosphere that prevailed during this ‘virtual job mela’ as the interviews were conducted in spaces between rows of book shelves at the central library.
The centralised placement process organised at Kattankulathur, brings students from SRM campuses including Modinagar, Ramapuram and Vadapalani, said Director Sriram, who added that over 120 companies have visited the campus this year since the commencement of the placement season on July 22 and have made close to 6,000 offers as on date. “We arrange mock interviews and impart advanced computing skill to students,” he said. Top recru-iters this year include Amazon (18 offers of `32 lakhs per annum), Barclays (25 offers of `10 lakhs per annum) and startup Udaan (four offers of `30 lakhs per annum).
Besides, organisations like Veritas and Pay Pal have made internship offers whereby selected students would work in the companies during their final semester with a good chance of bagging job offers....
