Kothagudem-Secunderabad Express catches fire

The fire started as the train was entering Platform No. 1 of the Kothagudem station at 10.25 pm.

KOTHAGUDEM: A short circuit led to a fire in two air-conditioned bogies of the Kothagudem-Secunderabad Express at the Kothagudem Railway station on Monday night. There were no injuries to any the passengers.

The fire started as the train was entering Platform No. 1 of the Kothagudem station at 10.25 pm. Flames were noticed in A-1 and B-1 AC bogies. Passengers immediately vacated the bogies and came on to the platform. A damaged electric wire was said to be the reason for the mishap.

Both the damaged coaches were detached at the Bhadrachalam Road Railway Station. Passengers were accommodated in other bogies and the train resumed its journey at 12.25 am. As a result, the train reached Secunderabad at 6.30 am instead of its scheduled arrival of 4.45 am, SCR said.

Reports said some passengers had cancelled their journey after the fire incident.
