BBMP’s apps turn mute, civic body promises to upgrade them
Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s Sahaya and Fix My Street mobile apps have fallen silent due to technical snags and the people are ditching them. Complaints are registered on the app but they are closed without any action after a few days.
Now, the BBMP is planning to upgrade these apps for better functioning, as people have been constantly complaining about technical glitches in these apps.
A senior BBMP official said, “The commissioner has asked us to ensure that the app is up and running for the public to air their grievances on civic issues. He was briefed about people’s complaints that the app is slow and non-functional at times.
He has asked the department concerned to set it right so that the people are not running around BBMP offices or chasing officials. We are already trying to set the app right and make it more user-friendly.”
Mr Ashok Gowda, a resident of Koramangala, said, “I had uploaded several photos of potholes on Fix My Street app. The complaint was closed, but the potholes remain. Most of the times, these apps, including BBMP Sahaya, are very slow and do not respond on time. If they want to make these apps effective, they have to rework on them.”
Ms Lalitha, a doctor, said she tried using the Sahaya app to raise a complaint about medical wastes not being collected from her clinic. “As I register a complaint, the page goes unresponsive. At times, I get lucky and it works, but the complaint is closed after two days without any action taken. The BBMP is a large civic body and they have to use technology to resolve issues and not make people to keep visiting their offices just to register a minor complaint,” she said.
