Bengaluru: In a bid to ease traffic between Bengaluru and Mysuru, the state government has proposed elevated roads in select towns on the highway, along with bypasses in other places. Interestingly, Chief Minister Mr H D Kumaraswamy's home constituency Ramanagar will get both elevated road as well as bypass roads.
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, PWD Minister Mr H.D. Revanna said that a proposal for elevated roads at a cost of Rs 800 crore had been sent to the Union Surface Transport Ministry. The CM, during his previous visit to New Delhi had spoken to Union Surface Transport Minister Mr Nitin Gadkari, who had asked him to send a proposal. On his return, the CM made a detailed proposal to the Centre, he said.
As per the proposal, elevated roads will be constructed at Ramanagar, Mandya, Chennapattana and Columbia Asia hospital junction at Mysuru outer ring road. The Union government will take up this work. Meanwhile, the state government has speeded up the process of land acquisition for constructing bypass roads around Ramanagar, Bidadi, Maddur and Mandya. While the Ramangar-Chennapattana stretch will have 23 kms of bypass road, Bidadi and Maddur towns will have 11 km of such roads.
The land acquisition will be completed by October 15 and land will be handed over to the contractor for constructing the roads, Mr Revanna said. Stating that the contractor was one of the top road engineering companies in the country, Mr Revanna said that the contractor had been given 30 months time. However, the company had promised to complete the project much earlier than stipulated, he added.
