Hyderabad: A special training programme for district election officers (DEOs) and returning officers in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation headquarters was held on Monday.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has deputed teams from Delhi to impart the training which was monitored by Telangana State Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar and Commissioner of the GHMC, M. Dana Kishore.
Mr Kumar said that as per the instructions of the ECI district collectors/DEOs of the state have been trained in how to deal with the technology involved in election work, along with the deputy DEOs in the IT wing.
He said that the ECI has come up with around 10 IT applications which will help the DEOs to perform their duties in a transparent and appropriate way. The ECI has also introduced an app called CVigil which any citizen can access during the election period to upload and give information about the violation of model code of conduct, malpractices etc. The ECI will take action in a time-bound manner.
