Road safety event for youth in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: A panel discussion on what the youth and government can do in Hyderabad, one of the cities with growing number of road accidents, was conducted in Osmania University on Sunday. The discussion which consisted of road experts, Mr T. Krishna Prasad, DGP of road safety, officials from the transport government of Telangana, saw participation of over 300 students.
iSAFE17, a nine month long championship which is being held for colleges across India, aims to reduce the number of deaths due to road accidents by 2020. In collaboration with IIT-Delhi, the government of India and the ministry of road transport and the coordinators of the event have conducted programmes across the country to increase education about road safety.
Dr Padmaja Gadiraju, psychology professor on the panel described the impact of young minds on seeing a road accident and also how youngsters should stop being reckless on the roads.
