Sources said that a team is gathering information about those who were booked under the Arms Act earlier to get leads.

Bengaluru: The SIT police probing the murder of eminent journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh are reportedly trying to gather information from those who were earlier arrested in Arms Act cases.

Sources said that a team is gathering information about those who were booked under the Arms Act earlier to get leads.

“We are questioning them, especially those who had used country made weapons, to get more information on the places where such weapons are sold. We have also prisons including the Bengaluru Central Prison, and had interacted with those who were booked under the Arms Act,” an official said.

Meanwhile, the SIT which is verifying Ms. Lankesh's articles in Gauri Lankesh Patrike have also prepared a list of those whom she had criticised in her writings.

In this angle, they have also questioned well known writer Vikram Sampath on Friday.

It is learnt that Ms. Lankesh had written against him in 2015 in connection with ‘Award Wapsi’ campaign.

Sampath upset
In his tweets Sampath said: “Bizarre that SIT probing #gaurilankeshmurder wants to record my statement only because she wrote one article criticising me. Times we live in!”

“SIT completed hour long recording of my statement on #gaurilankeshmurder. Cooperated wt them as a law abiding citizen!”
