Chasing the Mitte waterfall

After tough trek, it’s a sight to behold for nature lovers.

PITTAGUDA (KUMARAMBHEEM ASIFABAD): The tourism department has neglected the beautiful Mitte waterfall, otherwise it would have become one of the best tourist spots in the Telangana.

The Mitte waterfall is located near Pittaguda village in Lingapur mandal in Kumarambheem Asifabad district but tourists find it extremely difficult to access it.

Mitte is also called as Sapthagundala waterfall.

The Mitte waterfall is in its full glory in the current season. The heavy rains have led to a thickly cascading waterfall that sprays a mist in the entire area as it drops from its great height.

CH. Bhaskar Rao of Hyderabad, 65, who visited the Mitte Jalapatham said it was high time the district administration and the tourism department worked in tandem to make a way to reach the place as reaching the waterfall itself is difficult specially for elders.

Tourists feel that the government should tap the potential of the place and convert it into a thriving tourism spot that could also generate employment for the local tribals.

At present one has to cross a rivulet to reach Mitte. But it is not easy as its slippery. Instead a ropeway across the rivulet to reach Mitte Jalapatham is imperative. The Mitte Jalapatham could have emerged as one of the best waterfalls in the state if some safety, security and preventive measures are taken at the waterfall.

Right now, people have to go through agriculture fields and the rivulet to reach the waterfall, with no signboards to show the directions properly.

Despite its disadvantages, the Mitte Jalapatham has become an adventurous tourism destination for youngsters and nature lovers.

Earlier the Telangana Adventure Club had organised water rappelling at the site in which many had participated.

Mitte Jalapatham is just 85 km from the Adilabad town and 35 km from Utnoor headquarters.

People can easily reach the Pittaguda village and from there, visitors have to walk at least 2 km to reach the Mitta Jalapatham.
