Kochi: A.K. Sudheer Namboodiri has been selected as the Mel Shanti (head priest) of Sabarimala temple for one year starting from the coming pilgrim season.
A native of Thirunavaya in Malappuram district, he will take charge after he finishes training. The selection was held at the Sannidhanam on Saturday in the presence of Travancore Devaswom Board president, the special officer appointed by the High Court and the existing Mel Shantis and other dignitaries.
M.S. Parameswaran Namboodiri has been selected as Mel Shanti of Malikappuram. He belongs to Puliyanam in Ernakulam . The Sabarimala Temple opened for the special pujas at the beginning of every Malayalam month will be closed on August 21.
