Telangana: Joint service rules yet to roll out

To put an end to this problem, TRS government brought in the unified services rules concept and ensured its passage in Assembly.

Hyderabad: The wait for implementation of unified service rules in municipalities, corporations and urban bodies across the state is getting longer. It has been more than eight months since the Telangana Assembly passed the Bill paving way for transfer of employees from one local body to other including GHMC.

The delay is due to preparation of guidelines which is still under process. Amend-ments were made to the earlier municipal laws, which did not allow transfer of employees from one municipality or corporation to the other. Hence, employees that do not come under the state cadre retire after working at the same place for more than a decade. This, the government felt, was leading to rampant corruption and negligence in duties among some of the employees.

To put an end to this problem, TRS government brought in the unified services rules concept and ensured its passage in Assembly.

Official sources state that the municipal administration and urban development wing is on the job of preparing the guidelines. If everything goes according to the plan, the whole process should be completed in the next three months, they said.
