Rs 1 crore for Andhra University research projects

Airborne sensor SAR for ocean studies part was assigned to AU.

Visakhapatnam: Andhra University department of meteorology and oceanography will now take up a study on the shallow water currents on the Vizag beach as it bags three research projects worth Rs 1 crore, sanctioned by Isro and Naval Research Board (DRDO).

One of the projects is on forecasting of RIP currents which are shallow water currents experienced not only on Vizag coast but many other coastal places.

Another one is on NASA and Isro collaborative satellite going to be launched in 2020 as part of a precursor to satellite launch.

The third project is on sound propagation losses to understand the movement of water objects in the shallow regions of the oceans.
