AP finance system still under Telangana government

Officials feel discord may lead to system collapse.

HYDERABAD: After more than two years of state bifurcation, the AP financial system is still in the hands of the Telangana state government as the data centre which carries out the financial transactions is located at the Centre for Good Governance controlled by the TS government. Almost all AP departments carry out financial transactions, including payments to the treasury, online. The state government has handed over the servers of some departments to private companies like the TCS for maintenance. But key servers are with the state data centre controlled by the TS government.

Senior officials warn that in future the state may face problems. They have suggested to the state government that the state data centre should be taken off the TS government and handed over to private companies in Hyderabad or at Chennai. The officials estimate that this would cost about Rs 100 crore per year and to set up its own data centre it would around 200 crore. By the end of the September almost all departments will be shifted to the temporary secretariat at Velagapudi in the Amaravati capital region.

A senior officer said that the AP and TS state governments are not on good terms and there are many disputes between the both governments. He said that the TS government may not resort to any harm, bit if it makes the state data centre dysfunctional that will lead to collapse of AP government’s financial system.
