Low Pressure to Form Over Bay

Visakhapatnam: IMD said a cyclonic circulation lay over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal Odisha that extended upto 7.6 km above mean sea level, tilting southwards with height. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form along the northwest Bay of Bengal during the next two days.

Under its influence, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over north coastal and south coastal AP and Yanam. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely at isolated places over the same region.

Strong winds with speeds reaching 30-40 kmph are likely at isolated places over NCAP, Yanam, SCAP and Rayalaseema. Rain would continue till July 22.

IMD Amaravati director S. Stella said the low pressure would not have much effect on AP except for the north Andhra region, where heavy rains are likely in the next two days.

Since Monday, Palasa received 8 cm of rain and Pathapatnam 6.6 cm. Both are in Srikakulam district.
