Visakhapatnam: APIIC to take back unutilised lands

Meanwhile, some of the companies secured a large amount of loans by mortgaging the same government lands.

Visakhapatnam: Taking a serious note of the institutions and industries which have not provided employment opportunities as per their assurance and also not utilised the land taken from the government, new chairperson of Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) R.K. Roja recently announced that the corporation would take back the unutilised lands and would allocate the same to the new companies which are in waiting.

As there has been no pressure or check by the government, a large number of companies had not provided jobs as promised. There was no committee to check the implementation of points in the MoUs between the government and the companies.

Many entrepreneurs, industrialists, IT companies, service providers and institutions had taken government lands at a cheaper price assuring the government that they would provide a large number of jobs. In the last one decade, the government allocated land to these people through the revenue department and the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC).

Except in the case of a few, the government did not issue any notices or had taken any action on those failing to comply with the promises made to the state.
