Tamil Brahmins\' global meet in Kochi Friday

As per the latest information, 400 participants will be from Kerala, 300 from different parts of the country and 500 from abroad.

Kochi: The three-day Tamil Brahmins’ Global Meet to be held in Kochi from Friday, organised by the Kerala Brahmana Sabha (KBS), will see the convergence of professionals belonging to the community located in various parts of the world.

Speaking to this newspaper on Wednesday, Karimpuzha Raman, president of the KBS, said that this is the first time that such a meeting is taking place.

"We expect the participation of 1,200 delegates attending the meet. Out of this, 500 will be from abroad," Mr Raman told DC.

As per the latest information, 400 participants will be from Kerala, 300 from different parts of the country and 500 from abroad.

The three-day meeting will focus on developing a platform for highlighting issues facing the community and roadmap for the new generation.

"In the olden days, Tamil Brahmins used to be in the number two or three positions in a firm, but, nowadays, I see many of them heading global companies," Mr Raman said.

"In Dubai alone, I have found 50-60 persons in the levels of CEOs or MDs in various global companies. As a community, we needed to tap the expertise and professionalism of these people for the mentoring process of the new generation."

The July 19-21 meeting will see a slew of people from the corporate world such as Kris Gopalakrishnan, co-founder Infosys, Ramesh Iyer vice-chairman and managing director, Mahindra Finance, Sundar Kalyanam, chairman, Petrofac India, N.S. Venkatesh, chief executive, Association of Mutual Funds in India, Mohan Murti, managing director Reliance Industries, T.N. Krishnakumar, regional sales director Middle East Region ABB, Venu Rajamony, Indian ambassador to the Netherlands and several others.
