LDF to launch statewide stir against Modi govt
Thiruvananthapuram: The LDF has decided to launch stir against the policies of Narendra Modi Government at the Centre which were adversely affecting the interests of Kerala.
The decision to organise a statewide agitation was taken at the LDF ledership meeting presided over by chief minister Pinaryi Vijayan at the AKG Centre here on Wednesday. As part of the stir a massive protest march will be taken to Raj Bhavan on August 6. Similar marches will be taken out to central government offices at the district level.
"The policies adopted by the government are not helpful to Kerala in any manner. There was nothing significant for Kerala in the union budget. On the other hand the policies adopted by the government would stall the progress and development of the state," said LDF convenor A Vijayaraghavan.
He said rampant privatisation of PSUs including airports will hit Kerala hard. The hike in fuel prices will adversely affect a consumer state Kerala, increase in kerosene prices has impacted the fisheries sector badly. In agriculture sector, the rubber farmers are facing a huge crisis.
The LDF convener said the Centre was ignoring the state's demands. It yet again denied All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to the state.
The policies of the Centre are weakening the significant gains made by the state in health, education and social sector.
LDF convenor alleged that Congress was adopting a soft stand on the Centre's anti Kerala and anti people policies and more keen on attacking the Pinarayi Vijayan government.
The Congress MPs have failed to rise up to the occasion and mobilise people against the Modi government.
Meanwhile, LDF state committee has decided to review the performance of the government.
The schedule for the discussion will be drawn soon. Chief minister, his cabinet colleagues and top leaders of the LDF will take part in the exercise.
