KSU leaders barge into secretariat premises

KPCC president Mullapally Ramachandran, Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala and a slew of UDF leaders visited Abhijith.

Thiruvananthapuram: The KSU leaders barged into the secretariat premises on Wednesday demanding an end to the SFI atrocities in the University College even as KSU state president K. M. Abhijith's indefinite fast in front of the secretariat entered the third day.

KSU state secretary C. Shilpa along with state secretaries Arun Rajendran and Anu Lonachan and Ernakulam district president Aloysius Xavier and secretary Anand K. Udayan climbed the compound wall of the secretariat and ran towards the main entrance beside the durbar hall while the cabinet meeting was going on. The police stationed at the entrance held the male KSU leaders, but Shilpa remained there for several minutes shouting 'KSU' till women police officers were called in and she was taken away.Shilpa, 25, is the member of the third ward of Arimboor grama panchayat in Manaloor Assembly constituency. She was a panchayat member at the age of 21. A practising lawyer, she has applied for LLM course.

The UDF MLAs will hold a dharna in front of the secretariat on Thursday demanding an end to SFI's goondaism on campuses. Chennithala will inaugurate the dharna at 10 a.m.

Mullapally also demanded a CBI probe into the irregularities in the University of Kerala and Public Service Commission.

The incidents were comaparable to the Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh, he said.

"The governor should oust the Kerala University Vice-Chancellor and PSC chairman. The VC is tight-lipped after the police unearthed answer sheets from the unit room of the SFI. A criminal got a job by producing a fake certificate," said Mullapally.

He has formed a committee to raise funds to help the indefinite fast by Abhijith.

The members include KPCC general secretaries Thampanoor Ravi and T. Saratchandra Prasad, Thiruvananthapuram DCC president Neyyatinkara Sanal, MLAs V. S. Sivakumar, A. Vincent and K. S. Sabarinadhan.
