PD Act against forest encroacher

Mr Reddy said that people should be made aware of the lands that are illegally occupied through Google.

Hyderabad: The Director General of Police, Telangana, has warned of invoking the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against offenders who illegally occupy forestland. While speaking at a video conference in the city on Tuesday, Mr Mahender Reddy said that help will be given to the forest department in protecting land from encroachers.

“The Protection of environment is the principal duty of every citizen and that the illegal occupation of forestland should be stopped. Act of Preventive Detention (PD) should be filed against the offenders,” Mr Reddy said.

“The police would participate in the fourth ‘Harita Haram’ programme. He stressed on the responsibility of every individual in protecting forest land and said that the police, revenue and forest departments should work together to stop grabbing of the land. He said that any illegal grabbing of land should be prevented.

Mr Reddy said that people should be made aware of the lands that are illegally occupied through Google. He said that intelligence would be used to identify illegal land grabbings.
