TIRUPATI: Actor turned film financier turned smuggler Hari Babu surrendered to Andhra Pradesh Red Sander anti-smuggling taskforce in Tirupati on Tuesday. It may be recalled that the Anti-smuggling Taskforce has been searching for him for the last week.
According to an official from taskforce, Hari Babu was a group member in a popular comedy show in Telugu. He later turned into a financier for the new film of Jabardast fame, Shakalaka Shankar. Hari Babu has also acted in the said movie.
He is not the first person from the glamour industry to have been involved in smuggling. In 2017 an air hostess turned model Sangeeta Chatterjee belonging to Kolkata was also arrested for her involvement in smuggling. A taskforce official said Hari Babu was accused in about 14 cases.
